Ronan has worked on many operational and strategic projects, typically involving:

  • Developing an optimal network of depots and cross-docks for a nationwide food services distributor.
  • Developing implementation plans to address central distribution for a number of different FMCG suppliers in Ireland.
  • Assessing the potential savings achievable through consolidated deliveries for two food distributors.
  • Assisting third-party logistics providers develop competitive tenders by estimating the resources required to fulfil a contract.
  • Developing work-plans for sales reps and business developers to meet the requirements of both sales and logistics functions of FMCG suppliers.

Other supply chain projects have included:

  • Reviewing options to service the food services channel in Ireland for a well-known international brand
  • An assessment of Chilled Food Distribution in Ireland for a third party logistics provider.
  • Reviewing the current service plan for a major distributor to assess whether their customers received the appropriate levels of service based on sales contribution.

Ronan has a Masters’ degree and a Bachelors’ degree in Management from Trinity College, Dublin; as well as Certificates in Transport Management (DIT) and Professional Competence (CILT).
He has worked on a number of research projects sponsored by public sector bodies such as Forfas, Enterprise Ireland, InterTradeIreland, Bord Bia and Invest NI, and has worked the Irish Exporters Association and the Irish Road Hauliers Association. He has published a number of articles on the topics of distribution planning and the role of information technology in the supply chain, and had compiled a directory of supply chain software. He has considerable lecturing experience in the areas of logistics and operations management.
